  • 1/2 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 (14 ounce) jar pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 ounces pepperoni (thinly sliced)
  • 2 (12 ounce) cans biscuits
  • Additional Toppings (optional) See notes.

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray 13X9 inch casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. In a large skillet, cook ground Italian sausage until no longer pink and drain excess grease (if using link sausage, remove sausage from casings before browning).

  3. Stir in pizza sauce and heat through.

  4. Cut each biscuit into four pieces (a pizza cutter or kitchen shears works great for this). Arrange biscuit dough in the bottom of casserole dish.

  5. Spread sausage mixture over biscuits. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.

  6. Spread mozzarella and cheddar cheese over sausage mixture and top with pepperoni. Bake uncovered another 5 or 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Recipe Notes

You can easily customize this pizza by adding a variety of your favorite pizza toppings such as black olives, mushrooms, green peppers and onions.

If adding chopped peppers and onions you might want to add them to the sausage mixture instead of on top of the pizza so they have a little more cooking time. Just add to the sausage during the last few minutes of cooking time to soften, then drain the grease.

Serving Suggestion:

Serve this delicious bubble up biscuit pizza with a green salad, or cut up celery and blue cheese.
